Who Is Not Eligible?

• Students applying for online programs are not eligible for this scholarship.

• The scholarship is only valid for on-campus programs in Gothenburg.

However, students enrolled in programs that include short-term studies abroad or that temporarily switch to distance learning (e.g., during a pandemic) remain eligible.

Application Process

Applicants who select the University of Gothenburg as their first choice through universityadmissions.se and meet the eligibility criteria will receive an email invitation with detailed instructions around 10 February 2026.

Required Documents

CV and Letter of Motivation

When applying, you must submit both a CV and a Letter of Motivation directly in the online application system.

• No external documents or attachments are allowed.

• Each section (CV and motivation letter) should be no longer than 3,000 characters.

The CV should outline your educational background, achievements, and suitability for the program, while the Letter of Motivation gives you the opportunity to highlight your personal strengths, academic interests, and career goals.

Selection Process

Applications are reviewed and ranked by academic staff based on:

Typically, one scholarship is awarded per program, except for the Artistic Faculty, which allocates four scholarships across all its programs.

• 8 April 2026: Master’s program results

• 14 April 2026: Bachelor’s program results

Scholarship Benefits

The Axel Adler Scholarship covers 100% of tuition fees for your chosen program.

However, it does not cover living expenses or travel costs. Applicants must ensure they have sufficient funds to support themselves during their stay in Gothenburg.

You can Defer Your Scholarship

If you are admitted but unable to begin your studies immediately, you may defer your admission and scholarship under the same deferment rules for admissions.

A deferment can be granted for up to 18 months (or longer in special cases) with valid reasons such as:

• Medical or social reasons

• Childcare responsibilities

• Military or civilian service

• Student union responsibilities

• Approved leave under the Employee’s Right to Educational Leave Act (SFS 1974:981)
